Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty, nasal reshaping or nose job, is a common procedure. The removal of a large hump or the refining of a boxy tip can improve the look and shape of your nose and entire face. Dr. Godat will perform a thorough evaluation and take the time to discuss your options.

Surgery is performed as an outpatient under sedation or general anesthesia depending on the wishes of the patient. Many patients can return to daily activities and work within 3-4 days following surgery. In most patients, most bruising and swelling subsides by the end of the first week. Exercise and other strenuous activities may be resumed in two weeks. Depending upon the procedures performed, a splint may be applied to the nose to help maintain its shape. You can expect to wear a splint for one week after surgery. Teflon splints may be placed in your nostrils to stabilize the airway and are removed in 7-14 days.

After the evaluation, Dr. Godat may recommend facial contouring surgery in conjunction with your rhinoplasty. Cheek implants may be desired to augment the cheek bones and a chin implant to improve the profile and balance of your face with your new nose.
